Colorado’s acclaimed poet laureate and spoken word icon Andrea Gibson, long celebrated for their fearless writing on social justice and LGBTQ+ themes, passed away on July 14, 2025. The Sundance Film Festival and Boulder International Film Festival pay tribute to Gibson and their legacy with this special screening of Come See Me in the Good Light, winner of the Festival Favorite Award at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival and the Best Documentary and People’s Choice awards at the 2025 Boulder International Film Festival.
Facing a terminal cancer diagnosis, Gibson and partner Megan Falley opened their lives to director Ryan White in this deeply moving — and often disarmingly funny — portrait. Through intimate moments and Gibson’s powerful poetry, the film offers a universal reflection on life, love, and resilience, celebrating the beauty of living in the face of adversity and the transformative power of art. Proceeds will be donated to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.
